Definition
In psychiatric terminology, erotosexual gratification derived from enduring or inflicting pain; sadism is active algolagnia; masochism is passive algolagnia. The sexologist Havelock Ellis defined the word as: ' pain given in love '.Etymology: From the Latin algo, pain, and the Greek lagneia, lust.
