(Noun) Big, diverse, centrifugal (All those nationalities!) 19th century-1918 Central European monarchy. Capital: Vienna.
Usage: "Austro-Hungary" is perhaps more commonly used than "Austria-Hungary" after 1965's Pretender to the Dual-Monarchy's throne responded to "Who are you for in next week's Austria-Hungary soccer game?" with a joke: "Who are we playing?"
