(Adjective) Being stiff/brittle/unbending/rigid.
Usage: Metal is usually inelastic, rubber elastic. Usually said of a thing, not a person. But to say "Tea Party members tend to be inelastic" would be understood upon explanation. ("Unbending" or "uncompromising" are better choices.)
