U-2 rate
(Noun) An obsolescent-but-still-in-service CIA/then USAF ultra-high-altitude spy/reconnaissance aircraft.
Usage: In 1960, a U-2 was shot down by the Soviet Union over its territory just before a US/USSR/Britain summit meeting. US denials of the plane's mission, immediately shown to be false, led to Eisenhower's embarrassment and the summit's cancellation.
