Kibosh rate
(Noun) comes from the Irish (Gaelic) Cap an Bais - which means cap of death. It was the medieval death sentence handed down by judges. A 'cap an bais' was placed on the criminal's head as the judge read the sentence.
Usage: He put the kibosh on her suggestion of going away on vacation.
