devious

Definitions

devious rate
(Adjective) Tricky, deceptive, underhanded, sneaky.
Usage: Nixon: "Eisenhower was devious in the best sense of that word." (Actually, there is another meaning - "roundabout," "like an crab in motion" - but it's so obscure that Tricky Dick probably never heard of it, and was just trying to stick the shiv in.

Devious rate
(Adjective) The antonym of just
devious rate
(Adjective) Indirect, deliberately-hidden.
Usage: Technically, "devious" and "indirect" can be synonyms, but in essentially all cases (at least in everyday usage), calling someone "devious" when you mean "indirect" is a blatant insult.
