1. Short and colloquial for queen or queer meaning homosexual or a homosexual male. ' Hes Q for sure.' Military slang of 1920s. Also: Q-boy / Q'er = a young gay male; Q'ey = queer, strange.

2. Or: q, the medical abbreviation for each or every:
q.d. = quaque die means every day.
q.i.d. = quater in die means four times a day.
q.i.d. = quater in die means four times a day.
q.l. = quantum libet means as much as one pleases.
q.s. = quantum sufficit means as much as necessary.

3. For a while, in the 1980s, the letter Q was tagged to acronyms to refer to the appealability of a person, their power of attracting or of arousing interest. MQ referred to masculine quotient, another word for masculine sex appeal and in the movie Protocol (1984) Cliff De Young is looking for: ' Someone who's reasonably good-natured, has a reasonably high TVQ, and absolutely nothing important to do.'
