(Noun) Huey Long, Governor of Louisiana (late 1920s-early 1930s), U.S. Senator from that state until his 1935 assassination. Bestrode Louisiana like a Colossus; dominant/demagogic/populist - and very unpopular in some Louisiana and national circles.

Usage: Was Huey Long assassinated or inadvertently murdered? Who knows? So many bullets were fired in the fusillade between Long's "assassin" and his many armed bodyguards that no one is sure who actually fired the fatal shot.
