Definition

semi-quote rate
(Noun) A modified quotation that (to a greater or lesser degree) preserves the sense of the original. Contrasts with misquote in that it is neither malicious nor accidental. Also can refer to the punctuation marks that set out a semi-quote.
Usage: «A rose by another name would smell the same» is a semi-quote from Shakespeare.
