Shaheed

Definition

Shaheed rate
In Urdu, a martyr. It is a sign of respect and honor to say that a soldier has become a shaheed (or has been martyred), or has embraced shahadat, rather than saying that they've been killed.
It is also used to refer to martyred soldiers.
Usage: Two Pakistani soldiers embraced shahadat after an ambush by the Taliban.
Shaheed Rashid Minhas was the air force's only recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider.
