(Abbreviation) Joint Test Action Group(Noun) The Joint Test Action Group was formed in the late 1980s. This working group became the IEEE 1149.1 working group which later published the standard IEEE 1149.1 in 1990 and subsequently in 1994 and 2001. While the group disbanded prior to 1990 the abbreviation continues as slang. "JTAG Pins" or "JTAG clock" is frequently used in slang, incorrectly as an adjective.
Usage: JTAG is another acronym for the IEEE standard 1149.1 used in the testing of printed circuit boards.
